Alexander McQueen

The House

Lee Alexander McQueen founded his house in London in 1992, after learning to cut cloth on Savile Row and graduating from Central Saint Martins. That tailor's precision shaped everything that followed, from razor-sharp jackets to runway shows staged as pure theatre.

After his death in 2010, Sarah Burton, his right hand for fourteen years, carried the house forward with sculpted lace and couture craft. McQueen remains London's most fearless house: dark, exact, and impossible to mistake for anyone else.

“Fashion should be a form of escapism, and not a form of imprisonment.”
— Alexander McQueen
