Christian Dior

The House

Christian Dior opened his house in Paris in 1946, and his first collection, in February 1947, changed fashion overnight. Its nipped waists, full skirts and Bar jacket were quickly christened the New Look.

After his death in 1957, a 21-year-old Yves Saint Laurent took over the studio. Dior remains the definition of French couture: structured, feminine and endlessly reinvented.

“Don't buy much, but make sure that what you buy is good.”
— Christian Dior
