Prada
The House
Mario Prada opened his shop in Milan's Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in 1913, selling leather goods and travel trunks to Italy's elite.
His granddaughter Miuccia took over in 1978, and her black nylon backpack of the 1980s signalled a new kind of luxury: intellectual, unexpected and quietly subversive. That sensibility still runs through the house.
